You all are aware that in Salesforce, there are two email template categories- Lightning Email Template and Classic Email Template. In these email template types, you can add images to customize the email template.

You can add an image as an attachment in various scenarios, such as to informe about the new release features or updates of the products by sending them the brochure, sending a regular newsletter, promoting a new product or service, etc.

To add the image in email templates in Salesforce, there are various ways as follows:

As I mentioned above, you can add images to Lightning Email Templates in two different ways

Let’s discuss the steps of each of the ways.

In the Browser or Upload option, you can upload an image directly from your computer. This option is present in the dropdown menu of the Image button in the email editor.

Below are the steps to add the image to the email template in Lightning.

1. Navigate to the Setup in the Lightning interface. Then, click on App Launcher, search for Email Templates, and select it.

2. You can either create a new lightning email template and add an image to it, or you can edit the existing email template and add an image to it.

If you want to create a new lightning email template, click on the New Email Template button.

If you want to edit the image in the existing email template, select the email template and click on the Edit button.

3. To add an image, in the email editor toolbar, click on the Image icon; it will show you the two different ways to upload. Choose the Browse or Upload option.

4. The dialog box will open to select an image. If the image is already uploaded, search and select the name of the image file; otherwise, click on the Upload Image button to upload the image attachment from the computer.

5. Once you choose the image from the already existing images or upload the image from your system, click on the Insert button to add an image to the email template.

6. You can see that the image is successfully added. If you want you can adjust the size of the image by dragging its corners to fit it into a specific area of the email template.

Add the message content and click on the Save button to save the email template with an image.

Using the Web Image option, you can upload the image that is hosted on the website. In this option, you will enter the URL of the image that you want to add to the email template.

When an image is successfully added, Salesforce retrieves it from the website and adds it to the email template. Below are the steps to add images from the web to the lightning email template.

1. Go to the Setup, click on the App Launcher, and open Email Templates. Then, choose the email template to add an image or create a new email template.

After that, fill up the mandatory fields and enter the content message.

2. To add an image directly from the web, click on the Image icon on the toolbar and select the Web Image option.

3. To upload an image from the web directly, enter the Image URL that you want to add and the Image Description. After that, click on the Insert button.

4. An image will be added successfully. By dragging the image’s corners, you may adjust its size to fit it into a particular space on the email template. Then, click on the Save button.

In this way, you can add an image to a lightning email template in Salesforce.

Below are the steps to add an image to the classic email template in both Salesforce Lightning and Salesforce Classic.

1. Navigate to the Setup and search for Classic Email Templates in the Quick Find.

2. Either create a new template or edit the already existing one to add an image as per the requirement. Then, click on the Attach File button under the attachments to add an image.
